The 2-hour FREE Introduction to Pharmacy Informatics course is NOW available! 🚀

We, at the Pharmacy Informatics Academy, are excited to announce the launch our first official course! After spending countless hours working on it, we put together a course to give others a basic understanding of pharmacy informatics.

According to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards, pharmacy education should include pharmacy informatics as a competency.  After speaking with many pharmacists and pharmacy students across the nation, basic concepts of pharmacy informatics are covered very little or not even addressed at all.

We started this Academy because, even though we were highly interested in pharmacy informatics early in our pharmacy education, there were very few opportunities to learn and gain experiences. We want to provide an educational avenue to explore to those that are truly interested in the informatics profession, instead of leaving it as just being another “mystical” field of pharmacy. This may lead to a longer runway for success  for those pursuing the field.

Thus, with this course, we want to be able to fill in this education gap of pharmacy informatics.  As a general overview of pharmacy informatics, we cover the following:

  • What is Pharmacy Informatics?
  • What is the Medication Use Process?
  • How can pharmacists play a role in integrating technology and informatics into healthcare?
  • Where can you go to learn more about the pharmacy informatics field?

While this is huge milestone at the Pharmacy Informatics Academy, we do want to iterate that this is NOT a golden ticket into pharmacy informatics.  It may also be important to understand the “Difficult Realities of Pharmacy Informatics” and “Why Pharmacy Informatics Might Not Be for You“.  However, the information this may provide and could go a long way to share awareness on the field of practice and may even kickstart new ideas and thoughts from the professional community.
