YouTube: Virtual Pharmacy APPE – Tips & Advice (ft. Richard Waithe)

Today’s post, I wanted to share a video stream on my YouTube page entitled “Virtual Pharmacy APPEs ft. Richard Waithe | Tips & Advice”.  I had the great pleasure in interviewing Richard Waithe, President of VUCA Health and Founder of Rx Radio, about his experiences with virtual pharmacy APPE rotations as a preceptor.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many APPE rotations were canceled in March 2020.  This left many students in a situation in which they may not graduate due either lack of hours, licensure requirement, or etc.  Given the ubiquitous adoption of stay at home orders, utilization of virtual mediums (e.g. Zoom) have become more common place.  To help, Richard Waithe began taking students onto his virtual rotations.  As of March 30th, 2020, he taken on more than 30 virtual APPE students.  In this video stream, I discussed with Richard about his experience so far.  He shared some tips and advice for both preceptors and students who are interested in virtually precepting APPE students.

If you are interested expressing your availability as a virtual preceptor, please add yourself to the pharmacy APPE rotations database here.
